Working together
How a project works
Clear plans make for better websites. Here is what a typical Marlow Works website project includes, what we need from you, and how payments, revisions, and cancellations work.
This page explains how we typically work so expectations are clear. It is not a substitute for a project agreement. Your agreement will include the exact scope, price, deposit, payment schedule, number of revisions, timeline, cancellation and refund terms, ownership or transfer terms, and post-launch support.
Before work begins, you'll receive a project agreement outlining the scope, pricing, timeline, revisions, payment terms, and other important project details.
What is included
A standard website project includes only the specific items we agree on before work begins. Features that are not written into the project agreement are not automatically included.
Depending on the agreement, that may include:
- The number of pages agreed in advance
- A design that works on mobile and desktop
- Basic navigation
- A contact or inquiry form, if it is specifically included
- Basic placement of text and images you provide
- Basic launch or deployment
- Basic post-launch bug fixes, if they are included in the agreement
If something is not listed in your agreement, please ask before assuming it is part of the project.
Project scope
Every project has a defined scope. Before we begin, we'll agree on the pages, features, price, and expected timeline for your project. This helps make sure we're both working from the same plan.
Additional pages, advanced functionality, integrations, copywriting, photography, branding, ongoing maintenance, or other work may cost extra if they were not included in the original agreement.
Revisions
Your project includes the number of revision rounds stated in your agreement. Additional revisions or new requests outside the original scope may be billed separately.
A revision is a request to refine work already in the agreed plan—for example, adjusting layout, wording, or styling on an included page. A new feature, extra page, or a major change to the original project is not a revision. Those requests may need a separate quote.
Project timeline
Project timelines are estimates and depend on receiving the necessary content, feedback, approvals, and information from the client. We do not promise a guaranteed completion date unless that date is specifically agreed in writing.
Delays in receiving content, feedback, approvals, or other materials can affect the estimated completion date.
What we need from you
You are responsible for providing accurate information, text, images, logos, account access, and other materials needed for the project when requested.
Marlow Works is not responsible for delays caused by missing or late client materials.
Payments
The exact payment schedule, deposit amount, and final payment are determined by the individual project agreement.
Payment covers the work described in that agreement. It does not automatically include work outside the agreed project scope.
Refunds and cancellations
We aim to be fair and straightforward. The details below describe how we generally handle refunds and cancellations.
Refund and cancellation terms for each project will be provided in the project agreement before work begins.
Additional work
If you ask for something that was not in the original plan, we will let you know. Requests outside the original project scope may require an additional quote before we start that work.
That can include:
- Additional pages
- New features or functionality requested after approval
- New integrations
- Major redesigns
- Additional revision rounds
- Copywriting, photography, or branding that was not included
- Ongoing maintenance
Website ownership
Ownership or transfer of the completed website, source code, domain, hosting account, and third-party services depends on the terms agreed in the project agreement.
We will spell out what transfers, when it transfers, and what stays with a third-party provider before work begins.
Third-party services
Some websites use third-party services. Those providers have their own fees, terms, outages, limitations, and policies. Marlow Works does not control third-party services.
- Hosting providers
- Domain registrars
- Email services
- Analytics
- Forms
- Payment providers
- Other software your site may use
If you pay a provider directly, that provider's terms and refund policy apply.
After launch
Genuine bugs caused by our implementation may be corrected during a defined post-launch support period if that period is included in the project agreement.
That is different from:
- New features
- Design changes
- New content
- Other client-requested changes
- Problems caused by third-party services
- Changes made by someone else after launch
Review before launch
You will have an opportunity to review the website and identify agreed-upon changes before launch.
Approval confirms that you have reviewed the agreed project scope and requested revisions. After approval, new requests are treated as additional work unless they are genuine bugs covered by the agreement.
